The model is inspired by the innovation brought by BIXI for cycling, which made bike rentals accessible and convenient for Montrealers and which set the stage for Pad-Kay, which is also an eco-sharing system.
Observation & Insight
Pad-Kay is a Quebec-based concept founded by Sébastien Boisvert. The idea came to him while observing the ever-growing number of kayaks and paddleboards strapped to car roofs on the way to the countryside. As an outdoor enthusiast himself, Sébastien understood the challenge of owning multiple recreational items — from the cost of purchasing to the lack of storage space. That’s when the idea of Pad-Kay took shape: a self-service watercraft rental solution that gives everyone the freedom to enjoy water sports without the burden of ownership.

Designed to meet the needs of users and the goals of municipalities, our self-service stations provide high-quality kayaks and paddleboards — with no need to purchase, store, or transport equipment.
